I'm going to use a TT500 rear wheel on the XT500. The TT500 wheel has a larger rear brake with a magnesium plate, and doesn't have a cush drive, compared to the XT500 wheel. This is the stock Suzuki PE250 axle, adjusters and adjuster spacers that goes with the swingarm.
I aligned the wheel and lined up the sprockets, and then measured and cut a spacer for the brake side. Then I put it back together and measured and cut the PE250 drive side adjuster spacer (shown below) to work with the stock TT500 drive side spacer. The PE250 has the brake and drive on the same side, which is the reason this spacer is longer. The axle threads into it also.
Here is the PE250 drive side adjuster spacer after being cut.
Here is the axle ready to go, but without the stock TT drive side spacer.
I'll have to work out an anchor for the brake stay, and figure out the brake linkage. The PE swingarm doesn't clear the arm on the brake pivot.
I haven't measured yet, but just eyeballing it it looks like the right shock leans in at the bottom. The left side mount on the swingarm is wider, and curves outward, so likely will just need spacers, but the right side might need cut off and moved outward slightly.
