DT1 MX project

After sandblasting, I washed the hubs and painted them with Dupli-Color black caliper paint. I bought All Balls wheel bearing and seal kits on ebay. It was part number 25-1038 for the front ($7.11 shipped) and 25-1220 for the rear ($13.88 shipped).

I sandblasted the rims, and then used a Scotch-Brite pad and soapy water to finish them.

This gives them a nice clean look, and takes just a few minutes.

I reused the spokes on the TT250 front wheel. They were just a bit dull from oxidation, so I washed them and rubbed them out with Autosol polish. I've never reused spokes before, but they were nice enough that there wasn't really a need to replace them.

The rear TT500 wheel definitely needed new spokes, so I bought a new set of Buchanan spokes on ebay for a 'buy it now' price of $49.99 with $6.99 shipping, which is a pretty good deal. These are a heavier gauge than the originals with a larger diameter nipple, so I had to slightly drill the rim holes for them to fit.

Here they are loose laced. The TT500 wheel came on a parts bike I'd picked up a few years ago, and the TT250 front I just bought for $63.24 shipped, so I've got about $150 in the wheels altogether including bearings and paint. I'm happy with that and how they look. Now I need to true them and start shopping for tires.
