Sadly, barring a miracle the Chanute Air Museum in Rantoul, Illinois will be closing at the end of 2015. The museum opened in 1994 a year after the closing of the Chanute Air Force Base. The Village of Rantoul will no longer be able to give financial support of the museum, and this makes keeping it open financially impossible. It is a great museum, and it is really sad to see it closing. I'm going to try to get over there for one last visit before it closes. Here are a few pictures from past visits.

I little while after taking this picture riding along I heard a tink-tink-tink, which turned out to be the little clutch adjuster cover falling off.

XS650 enduro project
I'd done a rough mock-up on the exhaust, so now to do the final fitting of the pipes. I first sand blasted the ends to prepare them for welding. This also leaves a nice area to mark with a Sharpie for reference when fitting. I used an angle grinder with a flapper wheel for the fitting of the pipes.
Here they are fitted and welded. I'm 100% happy with how they look. Next I'll make the rear mounts and heat shields.

Dave Atherton's Norton
On September 12th, 2015 as part of the 3rd Annual Hoosier Bike Rally there will be flat track racing at the Clinton County Fairgrounds 1/2 mile in Frankfort, Indiana. Here are some pictures I took of Dave Atherton's Norton in a Redline frame at Clinton County back in 2010.
