We've had quite a bit of rain lately here in Indiana, leaving lots of standing water in fields and across a few county roads.

DT1 MX project

Today is exactly one year to the day from when the big brown truck delivered the frame for this project, so taking a quick look back at where this started. The frame came from an ebay seller in California parting out a lowered engine cradle and GYT kitted '69 DT1.

Here is a picture of the complete bike from the listing for the frame. This was a trick bike in it's day, and if bikes could talk, this one would have a few stories. My plan was to make a fun bike that paid homage to the original, but using parts I already had, and also less expensive parts. GYT parts can be pricey, so a plain enduro engine would be used.

Time to make it a runner. I bought Oury grips and an Emgo 44-97761 throttle and cable kit.

I'm using Boyesen 603 reeds, a M-VM34-200K carb adapter, Mikuni VM30-83 carb, and a Uni UP-4229AST filter. I used the same part number carb adapter on the DT1 flat tracker, and had to drill it out to fit the 8mm fasteners, but this one bolted right on, so they must have made a change. I might look at running an airbox setup a some point.

Here it is ready to start. Loud expansion chambers save souls, so no silencer. I'm using Maxima Castor 927 oil.

It started right up, and I went up and down my lane, and everything sounds good. It is still burning out some of the bearing lube from the rebuild, so won't smoke nearly as much once it does.
