Springfield Mile part 1

Professional flat track racing has gone through some big changes in the last year, including a new name for the series, American Flat Track, and the classes have been restructured to the AFT Singles and AFT Twins. Harley-Davidson made the official debut of the XG750R at this race last year, but has been struggling with getting the bike where it needs to be, while in contrast Indian's full-on effort with the FTR750 has been immediately successful. Many were expecting an Indian 1-2-3 finish, but Sammy Halbert came close to winning on the Yamaha, finishing in third, and also ran the fastest lap of the race. Bryan Smith got the win, with Jared Mees in second and Brad Baker fourth, giving Indian a 1-2-4. Davis Fisher came in fifth on a Kawasaki, and was able to keep pace with the Indians for much of the race.
