I'm using this Valspar paint for the bike. Seems like good stuff so far.

Always save old pie pans. Great for cleaning small parts, and keeps them from rolling all over the place.

The steering balls and races were all good, so just a cleaning and grease.

Some of the parts are in super nice shape, like the aluminum top fork clamp. The original paint still looks great.

Getting it back together.

I disassembled the forks to see if I'd need anything other than seals and dust boots, and all looks good other than some minor pitting on the tubes, but they should be good enough. I'll try to get them cleaned and reassembled this week.
