2012 Indiana Motorcycle Expo part 4

Indymoto in Zionsville, Indiana had a neat display. They are a Beta and Gas Gas dealer. The Beta lineup looks great. I'll have to stop in there sometime when out riding.

Former NBA Indiana Pacer player, and now dirt biker Rik Smits was there also. He's seems about as easy going a guy as you'll ever meet. Good thing, as he certainly doesn't go unrecognized, and everyone has to say hello and chat with him.

Big man, little bike.

2012 Indiana Motorcycle Expo part 2

Some new bikes at the show, the new Sportster Seventy-Two is a refreshing light at the end of the "dark custom" tunnel.

Yamaha Super Tenere. I'd love to have one of these.

The tubeless spoke wheels look great.

Another model I'd never seen in person yet, I'm really diggin' the FZ8.

2012 Indiana Motorcycle Expo part 1

Here are some highlights from the 2012 Indiana Motorcycle Expo at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. This is a different event than the Dealer Expo that many associate with Indy.

As they did last year, message group IndyVinMoto had an excellent display.

DOHC I-4

Doing some maintenance on my Speed Four, including a valve clearance check. The clearances basically haven't changed since the last check about 8000 miles ago, so no shim changes needed. Good news since the camshafts need removed to change the shims on this bike, which pretty much doubles the time for the job. Working on this bike makes me appreciate my tractor engined bikes, but it's all worth it.

XS650 Special

This is a nice job of giving a bit of standard roadster style to an XS650 Special. As I found with my '79 last fall, the '78-'79 Specials are about half way between the standards and later Special models, so look better with just some minor changes.
