DT1 MX project

I bought a rear fender mount kit from ebay seller motodad24. As always, his parts are very nice, and at very low prices.

I bought new tank badges from MikesXS. These are sold as blemished, since some complained about the quality, but I think they look excellent. A few tips for installing them, since some people have reported either breaking them when installing, or not getting them to go on at all: Sometimes the tank mount brackets have either been bent in or pulled out, so test fit the badges and see if the brackets need adjusted to fit correctly. Just start the screws a couple of threads and push very gently in the center of the badge while tightening the screws if the head of the screws don't line up with the holes in the badges. And lastly, don't over tighten the screws. Stop as soon as they are seated.

I bought a new rear tank mount from KDI Reproductions on ebay. KDI also has a website: http://www.kdirepros.com/

Using a tip from the Yamaha Enduro Fans forum, I got a new OEM Yamaha petcock part number 2GU-24500-02 for a Banshee. These are only about $20. Here it is with a stock DT petcock. It is a direct fit to the tank, but the primary fuel tube is too long, so needs shortened if you want to keep the reserve level the same as stock.

Here it is after shortening the tube.

Here's the bike, probably about 90% done now.

The frame is a '69. This is what the bike would have looked like new.
