RT3 MX project

Once I was happy with the fit of the rear frame I welded it on. I then stuck some wheels and forks on to make it a rolling mock-up. I'm super happy with how it's looking. This bike will be finished in yellow and black Yamaha racing colors, with lots of polished aluminum, but that's quite a ways off. Next I'll need to fit an exhaust, convert to a cable operated rear brake, tank mounts, seat, and a few other things.

it looks wonderful so far. I hope you use a Petty fender on the front and possibly for the rear too. in my opinion there is no need to put side panels or number plates on it. yellow grips would be cool.
I'm wondering if you will use a DT type seat or a YZ/MX type seat? a low pipe would be pretty wicked looking but a DT pipe ot YZ looking pipe would all look great. very cool project. I keep checking in to see if you posted an update.

Thanks Marshall! I think this is going to be a really fun project. I'd love to use a Preston Petty fender on the front for sure. I'm not sure on the rear yet, but I might narrow up an XT500 fender to fit the narrowed XT rear frame, and see how that looks. I've got a beat up XT500 rear fender to try that with. I'll definitely be using a YZ/MX type seat. The stock DT/RT rear frame is 10" wide, and this one is 8", so it is too skinny of a bike for the stock seat. Haven't decided on the pipe yet. Probably a high pipe, but a low pipe would keep the bike skinny.
